Environmental Programs Intern 

Location: Irvine, CA

Duration: 10 weeks (June 15 - August 21, flexible based on candidate’s academic year)

Hours: Full-Time (40 hours per week); 3-4 full work days in office per week

Compensation: $25/hour

Altura is actively recruiting for our summer internship program, and we are seeking an individual with exceptional communication skills, an instinct for problem-solving, and demonstrated interest in the energy efficiency and green building industry. No specific work experience is required; however, it is recommended that applicants have some exposure to the disciplines of environmental studies and/or building architecture/engineering. 

You’ll work with our team on a well-defined project during your tenure, with an assigned mentor and specific goals which will be reported on at the end of the internship. Your contributions will help drive meaningful energy and environmental performance improvements in the built environment at scale.

PLEASE NOTE: This position requires candidates to have their own transportation and housing in proximity to our Irvine, CA office. Relocation / transportation assistance are not included as part of the compensation package. Candidates must have authorization to work in the U.S., and sponsorship is not available for this internship. 

 

Summer Internship Program Overview

Key Responsibilities

  • Work effectively as a member of a dynamic, empowered, professional team
  • Take an integral role in Altura’s dealership environmental program, focusing on facility data collection and implementation support for a nationwide automotive client
  • Facilitate day-to-day communications, through phone calls, emails, and video meetings, with building owners to help them take advantage of available energy audit programs
  • Compile facility assessment data into a common form for the client’s records
  • Research and analyze available utility programs, environmental regulations, policies, incentives, and best practices
  • Collaborate with our team to strategize opportunities to improve program engagement and implementation
  • Assist in the preparation of client-facing reports and presentations to share findings and recommendations

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Undergraduate candidate, rising junior or senior, pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies, sustainability, engineering, or other related fields.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong collaborative skills and demonstrated customer-centric attitude
  • Technically oriented critical thinker and problem-solver
