Quality Engineer
SUMMARY
Responsible for day-to-day support to plant staff in developing and maintaining quality objectives through continuous improvement and direct customer coordination.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate and lead in all APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) activities, including part warrants and related documents
Coordinate all problem solving and improvement activities relating to customer concerns/issues
Visit customers as necessary to resolve issues and coordinate continuous improvement
Lead and train plant personnel in quality functions and disciplines
Coordinate all products assigned SPC (Statistical Process Control) aspects
Coordinate process audit analysis with quality department technician and analysts
Perform other duties as assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager
Promote a healthy and safe work environment
Follow all policies and procedures as outlined
Must be flexible and able to travel to visit customer assembly plants, suppliers and other Cooper Standard plants as required
QUALIFICATIONS
Possess strong communications skills and the ability to effectively interface with all levels of hourly and management both inside and outside of the plant.
Strong technical skills.
Possess strong problem solving skills as well as statistical process control capability.
Computer literate in applicable programs.
Demonstrate knowledge in quality tools.
Understand / worked in QS-9000 quality system. Individual may also be a TS16949 systems internal auditor and/or ASQ Certification Quality Engineer.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Four year (4) college degree or two (2) year degree and 2-5 years experience with a strong growth pattern in a manufacturing environment.
Possess a thorough grasp of manufacturing activities.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents of highly technical nature.
Ability to write reports and correspondence.
Possess the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small & large group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Able to perform all basic mathematical functions.
Able to use computer software for data analysis as required for the job requirements.
Able to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where standardization exists.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk.
The employee frequently is required to use hands, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.
Vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Office setting, customer visitation and plant floor.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to machinery with moving parts typical of a manufacturing environment.
The noise level in the work environment on plant floor is moderate and hearing protection is required while in the production areas of this location.
