Paid Summer Research Experience: Ohio State University Center for Emergent Materials

Program Description:  

The Center for Emergent Materials is a Materials Research Science and Engineering Center, MRSEC, that forms teams of researchers form different disciplines to collaborate in teams called Interdisciplinary Research Groups, IRGs. These IRGs tackle fundamental problems in science too large and complex for one scientist to solve alone.  

In this REU program, you will work with researchers to 1) Design, analyze, and grow new materials (crystals, thin films, 2D) with unique electronic/magnetic properties, 2) Develop innovative tools to control material properties within/across interfaces, 3) Build theoretical foundations for these emergent properties.

Qualifications:  

Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in STEM; (Freshman, sophomore, junior, senior, Community College) 

 

Relevant majors and topics; 

Majors:  Chemistry, Materials Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Condensed Matter Physics  (***If you are limited to 3 topics: Physics, Materials Science, and Chemistry) 

Topics: Magnetic Phenomena, Topology
