Job Summary:
The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for tasks such as engineering, design, repair, modification, and service of material handling or lifting equipment, components, and associated systems. This includes inspection and troubleshooting of mechanical systems, components, and equipment.
Job Responsibilities:
- Support sales, personnel from other engineering disciplines, project management, service team, drafting, and provide thoughtful solutions to complex problems.
- Conduct inspection, field data collection measurements, and direct field support personnel as required to achieve project goals.
- Design new equipment, analyze designs of existing cranes and lifting devices, develop repairs and modifications for existing lifting systems, overhead crane components, and below the hook devices.
- Perform calculations using various methods, to validate designs and ensure compliance with safety, reliability, and performance standards.
- Portions of work will be performed in virtual environment, Microsoft Office 365/Teams and meeting software.
- Create technical drawing content, specifications, repair procedures, and documentation for manufacturing and assembly.
- Collaborate effectively both verbally and in writing with sales, engineering, manufacturing, quality, and project teams to support production.
- Research new materials, methods, and technologies to enhance product performance and efficiency.
- Other duties not specifically listed, as directed by their supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, required
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred, but not required
- 5 years' experience in engineering and working with lifting systems or machine design that correlates well to overhead crane design
- Knowledge of CMAA, ASME, AWS, AIST, NEC and OSHA publications.
- Proficiency in CAD software (Solidworks, CREO, AutoCAD, etc.) including knowledge of drafting and detailing best practices.
- Travel is required at times to customer sites to fully understand the scope of the projects
- The ability to work in a fast-paced team environment, communicate effectively verbally, in writing, and organization skills.
- Work with customers & vendors daily, adhere to project milestone deadlines, and exercise continuous improvement.
- Must be capable of working with both legacy software and latest technology including project management tools, various 2D and 3D modeling software packages, drafting, engineering analysis & FEA packages.
