PAID FOUNDRY ENGINEERING INTERNSHIP- HOUSING INCLUDED

The Ford Meter Box Company Foundry Intern will gain valuable hands-on experience in all facets of manufacturing and operations in a world class, industry leading non-ferrous foundry. The Intern Program is a broad scope program with a project-based focus but also flexible to allow individuals to investigate and self-direct research based on interests and passions. Job Description:

  • Learn about and study foundry process variables to understand the inputs of the foundry process and work to improve casting quality.
  • Study production processes and recommend suggestions for improvements.
  • Collect quality and/or production data and perform analysis (using Minitab and Excel).
  • Participate in various continuous improvement projects
  • Audit production processes to ensure detailed procedures reflect reality.
  • Working independently, in a small group, and among groups is expected.
  • Work with pattern shop and tooling group engineers to complete projects
  • This will include:
    • Core Making
    • Sand Testing
    • Metal Chemistry Testing
    • Understanding automated molding machines
    • Understanding induction melting
    • Grinding, Trim press, and blast cleaning
    • Pattern Making and gating design
  • This may include:
    • Evaluating current manufacturing practices and workflow to identify those needing improvement.
    • Evaluating employees’ tasks and responsibilities, identifying procedures or tools to improve productivity.

Qualifications:

Pursuing BS in Metallurgical or Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related technology degrees preferred. All engineering majors will be considered.
