Landscape Architect

Overview:

Watermark Landscape Architecture is a small, family-friendly firm located in Hendersonville, North Carolina. Hendersonville is a historic, thriving, beautiful town in the mountains of Western North Carolina, close to Asheville, NC, and Greenville/Spartanburg, SC.

Hendersonville is a major hub for all things outdoors, including hiking, fly fishing, mountain biking, rock climbing, kayaking, and so much more. Hendersonville is a paradise for anyone who loves culture and an active lifestyle.

We are looking for a licensed landscape architect or landscape designer with skills in project management, production, and graphics. The ideal candidate would enjoy working in a small, collaborative, close-knit firm. We strive for creativity, building relationships, flexibility, and to have fun while serving our clients and community with a high level of professionalism.

We work on a wide variety of projects throughout Hendersonville and the surrounding areas. Our projects vary widely in scale, typology, and scope. On any given day, you may be drawing a long-range land planning concept, designing a municipal park, creating a riparian planting plan for a streambank restoration, or working on a high-end residential landscape for a historic estate. We encourage our team members to participate in, learn from, and experiment with all aspects of the design process. We value everyone’s input in determining the projects we undertake.

Watermark’s open, top-floor, plant-filled office is just an 8-minute walk to downtown and a wonderful place to work. Expect stimulating lunch conversations, impromptu site visits, walks to historic Main Street Hendersonville, as well as drop-ins from dogs, kids, friends, colleagues, and clients. If you are excited to be a creative, self-reliant, and collaborative member of a great team, we encourage you to apply.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in projects throughout all stages: site visits, client meetings, concept development and schematics, team collaboration, presentations, drafting, final plans and bid documents, cost estimates, construction observation & oversight, and overall project management.
  • Prepare various hand-drawn and digital plans and graphics (schematic and presentation level) to communicate ideas to clients and project partners.
  • Communicate with a variety of stakeholders: clients, municipal planning officials, other design professionals, and contractors.
  • Carry out administrative duties such as stakeholder communication, material sourcing, cost estimates, file management, reports, etc.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, including communication, delegating tasks, meetings, and monitoring deadlines, all while producing high-quality deliverables.
